Pattern Name: Bear Claw, Goose Foot, or Big T Age: 1900 - 1910 Quilting: Utility Quilted - Big Square Material: red, blue, and checkered cotton calico and shirting cottons Measurements: 64”x74” Heritage: This quilt was found in Alabama. It is an exquisite example of a high quality, sturdy cotton workhorse quilt. The quilt features beautiful blue, red, and white calicos and shirting fabrics in a bold pattern with indigo sash and block. There are beautiful original mends and a lovely homespun backing. The quilt also has one small hole on the surface where the cotton batting shows through. This is a fine example of early turn-of-the-century home quilting. It is truly a unique and historical piece. Condition: Overall the piece is in excellent condition. It is so very soft and the colors vibrant and sure. There are a few stray dark spots here and there but nothing overly noticeable. There are some signs of wear characteristic with the textile's age, but overall a truly lovely and exquisite piece.
